The Keeper Project is a live public art project where artists work in a temporary role as observer, collector, maker and storyteller within the community.
The Keepers are archaeologists of stories.
Eleven Coolum Beach based artists and creative practitioners take on the role of Keeper from July 2021 – August 2022. The artists come from a range of practices including visual arts, music, spoken word and inter-disciplinary practice.
One at a time each of the artists takes the role of The Keeper - the observer, the explorer, the maker before passing the role on.
Each artist takes the role of The Keeper for three weeks. During this time, they have a chosen ritual that they will repeat, occurring at a particular place, at a particular time. The communities of people experiencing the ritual are likely to change.
The Keepers will be logging their journey like any good explorer. You can read their account on the website or visit their office at Coolum Library. You can also follow the keepers on Instagram @creativespaces.sc
